Mike Pender's Searchers
Mike Penders Searchers features the voice AND lead guitar of one of the most influential bands of the early 1960s. Mike Pender played the jangly Rickenbacker twelve-string riffs -and sang lead--on such proto-folk-rock hits as Needles And Pins which gave way to the West Coast music revolution closely identified with the Byrds. Rising from the Cavern in Liverpool alongside The Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer and others, the Searchers charted 14 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Along the way the Searchers popularized the work of such classic songwriters as Jackie DeShannon, P.F. Sloan, Jack Nitzsche and Tony Hatch. Love Potion #9, When You Walk In The Room, Take Me For What Im Worth and Sweets for My Sweet are among the chart smashes brought to you by the voice of Mike Pender.
